West end Pack the Cooler!
Join us as we set course for "Disappearing Island" at Ponce Inlet.  What is there to do?  I have added a link to a great website with photos from events on the island earlier this year.
Really, you can make what you want of the day.  You can relax on the boat, or the beach, float in the water, catch crabs, light up the grill, swim, have fun with friends and family, or just enjoy watching others!  There are a couple great restaurant choices within minutes of the island as well.  Check the links for menus and hours.  I think it is more fun to pack the cooler with sandwiches, up to you.  If you are looking for a little more quiet time, you can use the north end of the island for an afternoon nap.  Remember, "Disappearing Island" is really just a sand bar.  Be sure to bring an anchor or two, because if you plan on beaching the boat, high tide may just take her away!
Marina Picture Halifax Harbor
You are more than welcome to follow us right from the Mount Dora Boating Center parking lot, or just meet us at the ramp.  We will be leaving the Marina at 8:30 a.m., and hope to launch the boat around 10:00, depending on traffic.  Halifax Harbor has a great launch ramp, dock loading area, and parking lot.  They also have water hoses at the ramp to flush your engine before you leave.  You may want to bring your own flushing device.
Easy directions from Mount are as follows:
State Road 46 east to I-4, take I-4 east to Daytona.  Get off at International Speedway, and head east thru town.  Right before you go over the bridge to the beach side, take a right on Beach Street.  The second light has a large sign on the left for Halifax Harbor.  You will also notice the sign for West Marine.  Take a left, and stay on the main road all the way back to the launch area.  There is no fee to use the ramp or parking lot.
In the Tube! From Halifax, Disappearing Island is a short 20-30 minute run south on the ICW.  Be sure to observe the speed limits, no wake zones, and channel markers.  When you see the markers to your left, be sure to follow the no wake guidelines.  You will see Inlet Harbor Restaurant on your left, then the lighthouse.  It won't take a rocket scientist to see the sandbar, just look for the boats!  Hope to see you there!
